Doesn't seem that long ago I was throwing out the old Christmas tree and hovering up all those pines while promising to keep to my now non existant New Year's resolutions. Well Christmas is officially here again and it's time to get into the spirit and start enjoying everything that's going to be on over the next month or so in the run up to the big day.
I though I give you some info on when the lights are going to switched on over the next few weeks around Islington.
First up Angel. Lights will be officially turned on on Saturday 24th by Islington's own Brooke Kinsella in Camden Passage. Shops will be open late and everyone will be getting into the festive spirit.
Nag's Head Town Centre officially launches Christmas with the return of the Nag's Head Christmas Extravaganza. Part of Holloway road will be closed off and you'll get everything from fun fair rides to actual reindeers. This event is getting better each year and I think it will be the highlight of the Christmas events in the area. Have a look at the details here http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events/feature/nags-head-christmas-extravaganza-
Archway. The event takes place on Friday 30th with lights being switched on by a local pupil who won a festive poster design competition and the Mayor of London. Father Christmas will be there and much much more. Details here http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events/feature/archway-christmas-light-switch-on
And finally Caledonian Road. 1st of December will see the Christmas lights go on with mince pies local carol singers and lots of mulled wine. This will also be a chance to pop along and see the new Cally Market which is now on on Saturdays.
Keep an eye on my events page for other goings on over the festive period http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events
