As there’s no fireworks display in Islington again this year I thought I’d update my last blog about fireworks night and Halloween to give you a few ideas on what to do. Unfortunately the will be no fireworks displays in either Victoria Park or Alexandra Palace this year so appolgise for misleading you in my last blog on bonfire night.
If you head east to Tower Hamlets they will still have 3 smaller displays being held by the council with no charge to enter. Here is a link to the events section on the councils site http://www.towerhamletsarts.org.uk/?cid=48382 They’re going to be held at Bartlett Park E14, Millwall Park E14 and Weavers Field E2. So if you want a good fireworks display this year the closest to Islington is East in Tower Hamlets.
So as there’s such a lack of fireworks or bonfires in Islington or at least organised ones if you plan on staying in the area and still want to have some fun you might want to go to the Halloween Screening at Club de Fromage O2 Academy where you can watch a special screening of Ghostbusters followed by a Halloween themed indie disco.
MSH Wellbeing are holding an Monster Disco on Liverpool Road http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events/feature/the-monster-disco
For those with kids a good place to be on the 31st is Newington Green where there’ll be a fancy dress competition, fire juggling, face painting and apple bobbing from 4pm http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events/feature/halloween-horrors-2012
Or for something a little more cultured you could head to the Eastorick Collection of Morden Art where you can see the Travelling Light Cinematic Munari exhibition http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/islington/events/feature/travelling-light-cinematic-munari
Enjoy
