I like the Jersey Zoo because it not only has wonderful outdoor enclosures for the animals, but also large picnic areas. The zoo is more of a large park with animals. The employees are very friendly. The animals are officially fed several times a day, including explanations from the employees. You can also ask questions there. I was particularly interested in the large fruit bats that you can see up close in an enclosure. The butterfly tent or the bear enclosure and the reptile house are also great. Various evening events also take place at the zoo throughout the year. There is also a restaurant, a café and a large souvenir shop.

In my opinion this zoo is unique. The complex is large, well-kept, but nature remains nature here. It may well be that you don't discover any animals in one or two enclosures because there are enough places for the animals to retreat. Sure, it's not the wilderness, but you won't find any lions, tigers, giraffes, etc. here either. The largest and probably most impressive animals are the gorillas. But there are also lots of small animals, such as in the reptile and butterfly house. A visit here should not be missed when staying on the island!

Visited with my kids (4 and 6) was a good day. Quite warm, but plenty of shade. Everything was clean on site and they were clear there was work going on to improve the place and they were up front about off limit places. Plenty to see for the price.Visited on

Great zoo to visit, we was really impressed by the conservation/breeding work being done for endangered species. The Gerald Durrell story building was a real eye opener.
