PHOTOGRAPHY AND PRINTMAKING EXHIBITION UNVEIL RISING NEW STARS
A new generation of talented photographers and printmakers are coming together to debut their work in a stunning exhibition at Kensington and Chelsea College.
Simply titled “The Final Show”, the Photography and Printmaking exhibition brings together the culmination of a year’s work from students on the college’s BTEC National Certificate and Award in Photography and BTEC National Certificate and Award in Printmaking.
More than 150 students will be showcasing their work during the two week exhibition, which officially opens on Friday July 9, 2010.
The exhibition has been described as “an eclectic collection of work that brings together different concepts and styles”. Among the styles of work being highlighted are fashion and documentary photography, along with techniques such as photo etching, pin-hole photography and use of liquid light.
Bruce tanner, Head of Photography and Printmaking at Kensington and Chelsea College said: “It’s going to be an exciting exhibition that stretches the boundaries of traditional photography. The majority of students exhibiting are not full time, and have juggled full-time work and home commitments to produce the accomplished pieces being displayed.
“They’re a real source of inspiration and a brilliant example of what can be achieved with drive and passion. A number of students are already earning from their photography and printmaking and exhibiting across London.”
‘The Final Show’ is free to attend and takes place across two floors in the college’s Hortensia Gallery, Hortensia Road.
Exhibits will also be on sale giving guests the opportunity to own exclusive pieces produced by emerging new talent.
The Gallery is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am until 09.00pm and Friday, 8.30am until 05.00pm. For more information contact the college’s Art’s Office on: 0207 573 5258.
