I find it great to be in London over the Christmas period. The hustle and bustle comes to a halt, people have gone away and there's still plenty to do if that's what you want.
For example, for the third year running set between Hyde Park Corner and The Serpintine is Winter Wonderland - The perfect day out for family, friends and colleagues. Winter Wonderland runs from 21st November 2009 until 3rd Jan 2010, (closed on Christmas Day). Entrance is free and it features London's largest ice rink, a circus, a giant wheel and loads of rides and attractions. As well as this there a German Christmas Market, a Winter Wonderland Shop and much more. For info on prices for attractions at Winter Winteland go to their Site. www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com
