We hadn't visited before and chose the venue for location which was a perfect halfway meet up point between families.

The reviews looked good so we had high hopes but I can hands down say we ere surprised by the high quality food we were served and the attention to flavour and detail. Every dish was utterly delicious, from the crispy rosemary roast potatoes and unctuous cauliflower cheese to the home made Yorkshire puds and delightful puddings. Our table tried the apple crumble, panna cotta and poached pear options and they were all absolutely delicious.

As someone who likes to cook and is often disappointed by the standard of pub grub for the price you have to pay; I can honestly say I will be back. This should be considered a food destination. The service, the atmosphere, the village. All of it surpassed expectation and we had a thoroughly lovely afternoon catching up over delicious food and excellent service. 5 stars all round.

Friendly, decent look in pretty out of the way Titchmarsh near Thrapston. 'S for another of those superb Northants churches with a superb square tower with pinnacles on 4 corners like Aldwincle and Lowick! Well kept NVB ales. Delightful and most congenial landslide. Don't let the front bar be all that you see, there's a good sized, stylish dining room and lovely two patio/garden areas to drink out in.

This restaurant has such a cozy and charming atmosphere! From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. The warm lighting, rustic decor, and comfortable seating make it an ideal place for a relaxed meal.

Considering the fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes, you really get more than what you pay for.

Highly recommended for those who want a quality meal without breaking the bank.

The food here is absolutely delicious and luscious. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the duck and the risotto. For the dessert the delicia.
Hands down, some of the best food I've had recently!

The service was really great! Very helpful staff.

Thanks to Head Chef Asa Cosgrove

We had a fantastic meal in The Wheatsheaf last Thursday. It was the new menu from Chef Asa and it really was top notch, quality food. Mushroom arancini to start which was so full of great flavours. The wife had duck to follow and I had the blade of beef; both gorgeous and very good portion sizes. Well done to Asa and all the team; keep it up!

EDIT: Recently revisited and down graded for the lack of vegan options.

We came in late on a Friday night after a spur of the moment walk left us out in the countryside and hungry. We said we would sit outside, and were told that was okay but there was a wait for food.
They only have a 'Vegan Burger' as a vegan option for me, which should be better described as a spiced bean burger. It was not great, and didn't go with the vegan cheese at all, but the chips were nice.
We waited almost an hour for my burger and my partners steak, during which time it got cold and dark and tables inside the dinner room emptied and were cleaned down, but we were told we were not allowed to move inside, even though we were cold. These tables did not get taken during the time we were there, and no one mentioned the basket of blankets we would have benefited from, but only noticed when leaving. This did make us feel unwelcome, which is a big shame.
We took our drinks through to the bar to warm up before our return walk across the fields, and the atmosphere was nice. They have my favorite rhubarb cider on tap so that made up for the lackluster food.

I don't think I would choose to return here, unless we only needed a drink on a walk through the village.

Original review from 2021:
Can’t believe i forgot to review this place!!
Me and a friend popped in during the summer for lunch after a long walk. We were very happy with the covid measures in place, and enjoyed sitting in the pub garden.
I was really impressed by how well they catered to different dietary requirements, i had expected to only be able to have some chips, but had multiple options to choose from.
In the end my friend had a big slab of steak and ale pie, and i had a lovely mushroom pie. Both got lots of veg, potatoes and plenty of gravy, all washed down with some nice cider.
We’ve been dying for a nice sunny day as an excuse to go for a wander and end up there for lunch again!

What a great find in the village of Titchmarsh. A warm welcome and placed in a dining area divided from a family party. The early bird menu and a dessert for us both. Rounded off by two large pots of Yorkshire tea - only the best will do... We will definitely return and try some other options on the menu. Access from the car park is flat and the toilets are both accessible with wide doors.

Parking: Access to the car park at the rear is through a relatively narrow entrance. I doubt an Ioniq 5 or Model X would fit.
