A barge worker had to be airlifted to hospital Saturday 21st May, 2011 after becoming lodged between the barge he was working on. Air ambulance landed next to the clock warehouse on the Severn Basin. Sever Rescue team, Stourport Police, Ambulance and the Fire Service were all on the scene of the accident.
After an hour the elderly man was gently placed on trolley to be moved. Police moved the crowds saying:
Can we move everyone back so not to upset the children please
The injured man with all emergency crew was taken to the air ambulance. Severn Police closed off that area of Severn Basin as the investigating team arrived.
