“If music be the food of love, play on, play on, play on…” as the song goes.

“Give me an excess of it”, the love sick Count Orsino demands at the beginning of Twelfth Night…

For sixteen nights during the last half of November each year, the International Wimbledon Music Festival aims to provide a veritable banquet for the soul, presenting a feast of music making of the highest quality by world-class artists of international standing.

As a charity Wimbledon Music Festival has an ambitious and imaginative programme of educational activities in the community, centred on Saint Cecilia’s Day, 22 November 2011, celebrating the patron saint of music with ‘Performance Day, Merton’ involving more than 4,000 performers in 65 schools across the Borough.

Like many cultural organisations Wimbledon Music Festival is a not-for-profit organisation registered both as a charity and a company limited by guarantee.

The main object of the organization is “to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of the art and science of music in all its aspects by any means the trustees see fit”.

The Wimbledon Music Festival is proud of the support of an extremely distinguished group of patrons: Lord Birkett, former CEO of GLC Arts, pianist Alfred Brendel, violist Rivka Golani, tenor Ian Partridge, and cellist Raphael Wallfisch; and most grateful for the generosity of the Sponsors, Benefactors, and Friends without whose support the Festival would not be possible.

“Okay, so November isn’t exactly summer, but this year's Wimbledon Music Festival is worth stretching the rules of the seasons for.”
