Devoted to Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation and the Rehoming of Rescue Dogs
When you call the RSPCA about young chicks that have fallen out of their nest - do you know what they do with them?
Have you any idea what happens to stray dogs in Lancaster and Morecambe that are rounded up by the Dog Warden?
The answer is simple - they go to Wolfwood!
What is Wolfwood?
Established in 2007, Wolfwood is a small, family run centre formed by Stephen Wakelin.
Working from donated, temporary accommodation, Stephen and his team have a steady flow of unwanted and lost dogs passing through their kennels that require specialist care, medical attention and new homes.
The centre also accommodates rescued wildlife including hurt and orphaned hedgehogs, injured birds, ailing ducks, sick chickens and any other animals that require veterinary help before being released back into the wild. In 2010 they cared for over 270 rescued wildlife casualties.
In separate fields, Wolfwood also offers a permanent home to eight rescue horses and ponies.
Plans for the Future
Stephen and the team at Wolfwood hope, that through sufficient funding, they will soon be able to expand and own a permanent centre of their own.
The aim is to have land and buildings in the same place where they can continue to provide their excellent work - but as you can imagine this costs lots of money.
