CancerCare Urge Local Men To ‘Grow A Mo’ This November
Local men are being urged to lay down their razors for the month of November and get sponsored to grow their finest moustaches in aid of local families affected by cancer and life limiting conditions.
Local charity CancerCare’s ‘Grow a Mo’ campaign asks men to start on November 1st with a clean shaven face and then over the month get sponsored to grow a moustache. Guys can register for a free fundraising pack at www.cancercare.org.uk which includes a sponsor form, fundraising tips and a fun pack of cut-out moustaches to help them choose a style. The pack also contains information on the signs and symptoms of some common male cancers.
The month-long campaign will end with a ‘Tash Bash’ fundraising event hosted by Penny Street Bridge on November 29th where prizes will be handed out for the best (and worst) moustaches.
CancerCare Fundraising Team Leader, Jane Staniford, says:
“Our ‘Grow a Mo’ supporters will not only be raising funds to help support local men affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions but they will also be raising awareness of male cancers. Incidences of Testicular cancer have more than doubled in recent years and Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK.”
“We work with hundreds of local men and their families every year at CancerCare through services including Counselling and a Prostate Cancer Support Group. That’s why we’re urging as many guys as possible to get behind our campaign. Every single penny raised through Grow a Mo will stay in the local area and help us reach out to more men in need of our help.”
CancerCare offer a wide range of free support services for local people of all ages throughout North Lancashire including a professional Counselling service and dedicated support for children & young people.
