Films and Frights at The Dukes
Scare yourself silly as The Dukes cinema hosts a season of horror films for Halloween.
The scary season starts early at the Lancaster independent cinema with two screenings of the clever, mindbending horror, Kill List(18) on October 19 and 20.
Then you have just a few days to recover before the nightmarish classic Nosferatu(PG) on October 23.
Lancaster-based freelance composer, Andy Whitfield, will perform a live score to this film which is unofficially based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Tickets for Nosferatu are priced £6.50/£5.50(concessions).
A week later, on October 30, The Dukes will screens its mystery film.
The film title will be announced on October 17 but anyone who books before then will be entered into a draw with prizes including free film club membership for a year.
Tickets for the mystery film are priced £6.50/£5.50(concessions).
On Halloween itself – October 31 – The Dukes presents a Living Dead Double Bill: Re-Animator(18) at 7pm and Evil Dead II(18) at 9pm.
A tongue-in-cheek adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, Re-Animator follows a medical student’s obsession with bizarre experiments.
Evil Dead II is a riotous, visually inventive and relentlessly daft horror classic starring cult icon Bruce Campbell as a young man left stranded in a cabin in the woods.
Buy a Living Dead Double Bill ticket for £8/£7(concession) or tickets for the individual films at £6.50/£5.50.
The Halloween season reaches its chilling climax with Red State(18) on November 5 and 8.
A satirical horror film unlike any that cult filmmaker Kevin Smith has made before, Red State tells the story of three teenagers caught in a honey trap by religious extremists.
To book tickets for any of these films, call The Dukes Box Office on 01524 598500 or www.dukes-lancaster.org.
