Lancaster & Morecambe Independent Business Owners – Christmas Shopping Crawl
Thebestof Lancaster are delighted to be working together with Independent Retail Champion Clare Rayner in organising a ‘Christmas Shopping Crawl’ from 24th November through to 24th December and are looking for 30 independent local retailers in the Lancaster and Morecambe area to join forces and increase visibility of shopping in the area.
The concept of a Christmas Shopping Crawl is for local shoppers and people outside the area to discover, and in some cases re-discover, all the fabulous local shopping facilities that they have available to them.
Running during the most important shopping period of the year the aim is to not only raise awareness of how shopping locally benefits the local economy, but also by encouraging using local retailers we can increase footfall in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
The participating retailers will have their details included in a map of the area, which shoppers can obtain from various sources, and the shoppers must then visit each retailer and have their map officially stamped. Once the map is filled it can then be submitted to be included in a prize draw for a range of exciting prizes.
Retailers will be provided with posters to put into their windows to create awareness of the event and to help shoppers identify them, and we will be providing them with ‘Thank You’ cards explaining the benefits to the local economy of shopping locally that they can give to their customers.

The scheme will be supported by extensive national and local coverage by all the various media, as well as extensive promotions via social media to ensure maximum awareness.
Clearly there will be a lot of demand for places on the map and retailers, restaurants, cafes, hotels, etc. wishing to participate are urged to register as early as possible. As we have deadlines for the Christmas Shopping Crawl Map to be printed and distributed, once those deadlines are passed it will not be possible to include anyone applying later.
