The Business in the Community Awards were held at Edgbaston Cricket Club in Birmingham this week. The awards recognise companies and individuals across the region that are excelling in their commitment to the environment, people, community and charity. The gala dinner featured a video address from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
Construction specialists Alumet were rewarded for their efforts in carbon reduction, recognising the company's successful diversification into renewable energy as well as reducing their operational carbon footprint by 17.7% during the past year.
Alumet's Marketing Manager Rob Henson commented "The BITC awards evening is always a fantastic event and this year was no exception. We are honoured to receive our first ever award from this excellent organisation, which provides a great validation of our improvements throughout the business. We aim to continue with our efforts in CSR and carbon reduction with a view to returning next year"
Alumet are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a special Eco-day at their Southam headquarters on Friday 6th July 10.30 - 2.00pm, TV and film personality Brian Blessed is the special guest.
