Redrow is supporting this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch initiative, the world’s largest garden survey, and will be staging an event at its development (LS14 2AL) on Sunday, January 27, between 11am and 3pm.
Visitors to The Hawthorns, which offers a selection of three and four-bedroom family homes from Redrow’s Heritage Collection, will be given a talk about how to find the best birdwatching spot, what to look for and the best times to do so and how to record different species.
The event will cater for people of all ages and interests in bird activities – including those who don’t know a pigeon from a peregrine. In addition, the RSPB will be providing information about their conservation charity work, which includes managing nearby Fairburn Ings nature reserve, as well as offering takeaway leaflets to help people develop their birdwatching skills at home.
Joanne Hoyland, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “We are proud of our track record to support and enhance nature and wildlife in the communities where we build new homes and delighted to welcome an expert from the RSPB to attend our Hawthorns development in Leeds.
“This provides a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to learn about varied bird species. We’re sure visitors will be surprised to learn how and what you can spot right on the doorstep.”
The Hawthorns, in the Cross Gates and Whinmoor district, is just off the A6120 Leeds outer ring road and has the benefit of being handily located both close to the vibrant city centre and leafy countryside nearby.
People who come along to see the development for themselves on Sunday, January 27, will also have an opportunity to view the four-bedroom Oxford show home – the main venue to be used by the RSPB – with its open space interiors and garden ideal for gazing out at nature and wildlife.
An Oxford home starts from £349,950. Further information, can be found at www.redrow.co.uk/thehawthorns .The Hawthorns’ Oxford show home and sales office are usually open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information on available homes and the forthcoming birdwatch event, call 0113 882 3020.
