Christmas is over for another year, and 2016 is underway. It is at this time of year that we are all making New Year’s Resolutions and thinking about what this year has in store for us. We are constantly setting goals for ourselves, both in business and in our personal lives, but actually committing to them is a different story.
Goals can be anything from deciding to improve your fitness to growing your company, or even a combination of both. Careful planning when it comes to your goals is an essential first step; what would you like to achieve? More importantly, how are you going to reach those targets? It is also important not to ask too much of yourself. Let’s take improving fitness as an example. Know your body’s limits and don’t push yourself too hard too soon. Taking small steps each day will pay off in the long term.
In business, goals and targets change constantly. Adapting to these changes is essential, and knowing how you will react to them is just as vital. When pushing for perfection in your business, it is not uncommon for you to neglect your own wellbeing, but this is just as important for your business as an increase of clients.
Exercising and keeping yourself healthy not only improves your physical wellbeing, but they both help your mental wellbeing as well. Getting out and exercising, whether it is going to the gym or playing a sport, helps release the built-up pressure from work and helps you clear your mind. There is a saying that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and this can be true in business. By learning how to push yourself and persevere, in a similar way to training for a marathon, you can apply these skills for the benefit of your business.
