For the last few years, Garrick audiences have generously donated to chosen charities, raising much-needed funds to support local voluntary groups. During Christmas 2023 Lichfield Garrick Charity and We Love Lichfield will be sharing donations to support the Garrick’s work in the community and ensure the continued spread of funds across the district.
Audiences are invited to donate through the bucket collections in the auditorium after the shows or via contactless tablets available in the theatre.
The Lichfield Garrick Theatre charitable trust recognises the transformative power of the arts in enhancing health and wellbeing. They are committed to ensuring that the funds raised go towards providing enriching cultural experiences for young people and community groups that address inequalities and combat feelings of isolation within their district. Furthermore, these funds will support the development of the next generation of creative talent from the region.
We Love Lichfield provides grants to a wide range of voluntary groups, specifically targeting smaller organisations that make a real difference. So far it has given away over £300,000 to 250+ groups across the Lichfield District including the city, Burntwood and surrounding areas.
Daniel Buckroyd, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Lichfield Garrick Theatre said, “We have a packed programmed of shows including our highly anticipated Garrick Panto, a beloved tradition that brings joy to our wonderful city during this festive season.
“We hope this platform will allow everyone to spread festive cheer and make a difference across the district in the future.”
Simon Price, Patron of We Love Lichfield said, “The voluntary sector is the fabric of our community. I don’t know what we’d do without these special people who help so many.
“Both we and Lichfield Garrick Theatre are immensely grateful for all contributions. With ever-increasing costs, they need help, and we will ensure everything raised will help continue the valued work of these voluntary groups.”
