A stunning building. The acoustics are incredible. Everyone was so welcoming, especially a steward called Ralph who was really engaging and explained a lot when I was asking questions about the organ during the interval.

Looks even more impressive due to the elevated position above the small city. Real splendid of days gone by when so much money was put into building religious sites

Magnificent inside and out. Never tire of standing outside and looking at the Kings and wondering on the sheer skill of those many, many workers that must have worked on them for generations.

A must see if you are in the Midlands

The only UK cathedral with 3 spires ("The Ladies of the Vale"), Lichfield Cathedral is a must visit if you find yourself in Lichfield.

There has been a cathedral here since 700 AD - you can sense the history all around. A beautiful space inside and the surrounding cathedral close is beautiful. Don't miss the Vicars' Close around the corner.

The staff/volunteers are friendly and helpful.

There is a box office at the front but admission is free - although you are encouraged to leave a donation. A cathedral like this one requires around £5,000 per day to keep it standing and open.

we are visiting many cathedrals and this one did not disappoint.
The tour guide was excellent and spent ages telling us details of the buildings which we would otherwise have never have known.
A super place as it exudes history

When we visited they had a moon landing exhibit on. There was a little elevated platform for you to see the moon floor covering, although it was no different to standing on the ground.

They had a hidden heights tour on which we missed by 5 minutes which is a shame as it would have been great to see the Cathedral heights, but we did manage to watch some of their choir practising.

An outing only an hour or so away by car from home in Cheshire has reminded me just how much this country has to offer the traveller.

I have been to Lichfield only once years ago but never to the cathedral. Its famous three spires - one of only two in England with three spires- are often referred to as the "Ladies of the Vale."

The Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Truro in Cornwall was built between 1880 and 1910 to a Gothic Revival design with three spires.

In many ways, this great medieval structure in Staffordshire seems understated when compared with the likes of Canterbury and York but its beauty is without question.

The surprisingly sooty exterior is an inheritance from the industrial Black Country not so many miles apart, but its interior is as glorious and imposing as any cathedral despite extensive damage during the English Civil War.

A regular visitor from the area told me how in that 17th-century bloody conflict the folk of Lichfield managed to save its medieval wall paintings by hiding them beneath a coating of protective limewash. Now they are considered to be among the finest examples anywhere in the country although only three have survived.

Lichfield is dedicated to St Chad and St Mary and has been a place of worship for 1,300 years.

For those in need of sustenance, almost opposite the front entrance - which is actually at the side of the cathedral - is the Chapters, the Cafe in The Close, whose patronage by visitors must go some way to offsetting the £5,000 a day to maintain and keep the cathedral open.

If the weather is fine its 13th century walled garden is an idyllic place to eat. There is no entrance fee to Lichfield Cathedral but even a modest or otherwise voluntary donation is a small price for a very worthwhile visit...

There are fairly steep steps into the cathedral but for the less nimble a very friendly greeter, as jovial as a medieval Friar, pointed our way to the disabled access at the monumental front entrance. An area is also available for the disabled in vehicles with blue badges

Beautiful Cathedral but closed the Saturday we visited for a concert rehearsal.
Nothing can be said about it's interior since closure was 12-30 pm until 17-39 pm then a ticket only concert all night. .

100% superb. The lighting effects were fantastic in this wonder cathedral. A great evening with great music

Only issue - 10 minute walk to the nearest toilets. Surely there should be facilities inside the cathedral. Can’t think of ant other church or cathedral that hasn’t developed space for toilets!

An incredibly beautiful three spired, sandstone Gothic Cathedral in the centre of Lichfield. Some jaw dropping architecture you can't help but stand and admire.

Visited this lovely cathedral with my teenager. Beautiful setting well maintained. The location is right on the high street so perfect for seeing the shops or the market at the same time. Worth a look

Set in a lovely Close setting this Cathedral can be seen from miles around - really stands out.
Outside is adorned with many ornate carved figures.
Inside the big attraction is the very bright and clear stained glass Flemish Windows.
When we visited a choir was practicing - and we were able to sit a just enjoy their Music. (Choirmaster was being really tough on them! - sounded fine to us and my wife sings in a choir).
Choral Music in the vast expanse of a Cathedral is always a Joy.
Free Entry - but Donations always welcome.

Beautiful Cathedral, lots to look at for all ages.
When I visited it was summer holiday and there were activities for school age children, on the way out I spoke to a family with two young children who were very eager to show me the tickets they had made and let me know how much fun they had had that day.
