A truly beautiful building, currently with interesting exhibit on WW1. However when we visited, a sort of classroom had been set up in the nave with some kind of educational activity going on. This very much impaired the ambience of this place. Surely there are more appropriate locations. What if I'd come to pray and be reverent?

It's nice. Impressively big. Kind of what you expect from a cathedral. If you like cathedrals you'll probably like this one.

Our first visit to the cathedral despite living in Staffordshire for 40+ year. Stunning! In addition to the incredible architecture, the staff were welcoming and informative.

We joined a tour led by Dave and learnt lots of interesting facts some of which we probably would have missed. For instance on the front outside there are lots of carved figures - we would never have spotted Queen Victoria without her being point out nor would we be aware that it had been carved by one of her daughters, Princess Louise. Inside there are a number of Kempe windows and we now know what to look for to help identify a Kempe window. So much information. If you enjoy history then would strongly advise taking a guided tour of this Cathedral.

Steve and I come here about monthly for evensong on a Friday evening. It is a wonderful way to end the working week. My own faith is shaky but evensong at Lichfield never fails to touch me on a spiritual level. The cathedral choir never fails to impress. The choice of music, delivery and discipline is an absolute joy to listen to and to watch. Withdraw from the hustle and bustle outside for 45 minutes. Say prayers for those in need. Listen to ethereal voices and light a candle to remember those we no longer see. Afterwards a nice romantic meal for two at one of the many excellent Lichfield restaurants or pubs is a perfect end to our week. X

Visited this church in May. It has gorgeous stain glass windows. Displays inside. Art exhibits and information about the wars. It is free and they ask you to give a donation. Such a beautiful church , well worth a visit.

Lichfield cathedral is very pretty. Have visited a few times, typically during the festive period. They know how to put on a good show.

If there's an event on, it's worth a visit for sure.

We visited just before Christmas while in the town for a few hours. We wanted to see more of the town so stayed two nights and returned to the Cathedral, a beautiful and historic building surrounded by some really ancient houses.
It was a little noisy as there were school children having lessons there. Hope they appreciated the location as much as we did.

Beautiful stained glass, nice to walk around especially on a sunny day. There are people waiting to welcome you and I suspect also to make you more likely to give a donation. The little upstairs bit is unusual. It's otherwise not exciting, but how exciting do you expect a cathedral to be?

It’s magnificent from the outside very intricate stonework. Inside a bit disappointing. The reception desk was manned by a cheerful and helpful member of staff. There was no one in the cathedral to go to and ask questions from, the touch screen monitors are well designed and helpful. There didn’t seem to be any atmosphere in the cathedral.

A pretty glorious spectacle - a crazily elaborate Gothic exterior which was great to visit ( and curiously uncrowded) on a sunny Bank Holiday. Loses one mark out of five - half because the interior isn't quite as dazzling as the outside, half because God doesn't exist (i.e. false advertising).

The Cathedral is free to enter but you are asked to make a donation to its upkeep. It is a stunning building - I just love the colour of the outside stonework and the intricate carvings. I think it is the only cathedral in the UK with 3 spires. It is nowhere near as big as Lincoln Cathedral which was the last one we visited but I think this adds to Lichfield's charm. I love the stained glass windows and we were visiting at a time where there is an exhibition to mark the end of WW1. We wandered over to the gift shop - No 9 in the close. The Cathedral is well worth a visit.

We were lucky that a guided tour was about to take place shortly after we arrived and were even luckier that apart from the two of us, there was only one other person who joined the tour. This allowed us to find out about the history of the building (and others previously on the site) taking us from the eighth century to the present day. Many things were pointed out that we may not have noticed (such as the lean to the walls) and context and explanations were provided for many of the things we were able to see. In addition there was an exhibition commemorating 100 years since the end of the first world war.
Overall, a fascinating and absorbing visit.

The Cathedral is free to enter. you can give donations which helps the Cathedral's daily upkeep. It is truly beautiful both on the inside and outside. We have been to several events here and the Cathedral is always inspiring whatever the event. There is a small gift shop where you can buy gifts plus a gift shop outside the cathedral at No 9 in The Close.

My wife myself and four friends went to see the Lichfield youth company perform les Miserables at the cathedral on Saturday, what a fantastic day! The show was superb and enjoyed by us all couldn't fault any of it well done to all involved! And the cathedral was a very good venue and everyone worked hard to make this a fantastic production, brilliant all round!

An impressive place of history and peace. Many smaller areas to sit and reflect. Plus many events scheduled for all types to attend.

Lichfield Cathedral is easy to get to from the train station. It is well sign posted.

The cathedral is very peaceful, it has interesting historical displays and entry is free however they ask for donations.

They were very helpful and I was given a leaflet to aid my visit. Unfortunately tower tours weren't running when I visited.
