Well worth a visit for those that like to look at old churches and cathedrals and are interested in historic houses. Attractive setting near a lake and well kept gardens and within walking distance of Lichfield centre

The cathedral is always a very interesting place to visit with help and advice readily available from the attendants there. Just before Christmas a light display featuring angels was projected onto the outside of the cathedral with a display of angels made by local school children, inside. It was very well done and impressive.

A jewel in the crown of Lichfield, a beautiful historic building, that welcomes visitors. Christmas was extra special with a free light show on the front of the cathedral. Close to the heart of lichfield and all that it has to offer. Parking is quite limited with a small car park opposite on Beacon Street, or parking is available behind the premier in and behind the main shopping area. Enjoy !!

Just the most beautiful cathedral especially at this time of year. Very festive 🎄yet tranquil & a place where you can feel close to God and to those whom have left this world before us. 😢The 10,000 angels exhibition was truly amazing.😇

Love visiting Lichfield Cathedral.. it's place of peace and beauty. We particular visited this time to see the 1000 Angels by the sculptor Peter Walker and the Christmas tree displays . It was magnificent. We were also privileged to go into St Chad Head Chapel ... a place of quiet and reflection, although the cathedral was quiet busy with lots of visitors for the displays . The staff on duty were very helpful and polite. Was slightly disappointed in the Cathedral shop as it didn't seem to have a lot of Christian items, gifts and books more like a tourist information type shop with lots of general gifts and items for sale .

I read about the displays in the Cathedral on trip advisor so decided to visit as we needed some items from Lichfield.
We were greeted by a pleasant young man as we entered and was given a plan of the Cathedral and an explanation about what was going on by another member of staff.
The trees were lovely and had been decorated by schools, local businesses etc. and for a donation of £1, which goes towards the upkeep of the cathedral, you could vote for your favourite.
The highlight of the visit was the display of 10,000 white paper angels hanging from the roof of the south transept (I think that was what it is called).
I found it quite emotional.
When we left we popped across to the"Shop at No. 9" to have a look at the gifts etc. which were a bit pricey but there was some unusual items.
We are going to go back later in the year for a longer visit as it is a beautiful building and well worth spending more time exploring.

This fascinating, beautiful and above all, holy place is breath-taking. The history is incredible, having direct links to most major events in English history, including the dissolution of the monarchy. The interior is a haven of peace and tranquillity, with many places where one can sit for quiet contemplation. The artefacts, memorials and general ornamentation are superb. The sculptured figures, both inside and out are awesome!
Well worth a visit and not to be rushed!

We spent over three hours enjoying this beautiful cathedral, steeped in history.

Entry is free, but donations are encouraged but not enforced. For a prolonged visit to such a splendid place, it would be mean not to make a generous donation. Cathedrals are fearsomely expensive places to maintain.

The church was still decorated for Christmas; a highlight was the 40+ Christmas trees donated and decorated by local charities, institutions and businesses. You paid £1 for a token (which goes to charity) to vote for your favourite tree. We could have done with 40 tokens; they were all lovely.

In the Chapter House are two of the treasures of Lichfield Cathedral, St Chad's Gospel dating back to 730AD, and the Lichfield Angel, a stone carving dating back to the 8th century. Other highlights are the St Chad's Head Chapel (honestly!) and the stone carvings both inside and outside the cathedral.

All of the staff and volunteers that we spoke to were lovely. A great place to visit. Also the adjacent 'Chapters' café does great lunches and drinks.

Unfortunately we visited on a very foggy day so didn't get the best view of the outside but once inside, the Cathedral is extremely impressive. The staff are very friendly and made us feel welcomed, the admission is free but we made a donation with gift aid. There was a Christmas tree festival and a display of 10,000 paper angels - an absolute delight.

We visited the cathedral as we had heard there was a Christmas tree display on until Jan 4th.
The cathedral itself was easy to find and parking was plentiful. We parked on the university car park. £2.10 for up to 4 hours.
The cathedral was very impressive and free admission ( you were asked to make a donation but not enforced).
There were 45 decorated trees to view and a massive display of paper angels hanging from the ceiling. Well worth a view. We paid a £1 each for a token to select our favourite tree (proceeds to charity) and lit a candle.
The cathedral was well worth a visit. Tea rooms and toilets were just lower down outside the cathedral but we chose to go to Greggs in town and later Handleys bakers where I had the most delicious Viennese whirl ever!
Not much time left to visit but worth a look.
