I wouldn't normally dream of reviewing a cathedral, but we received such a warm welcome by people genuinely interested in sharing the beautiful space with you it really does merit a special mention. It is a glorious airy space with much of interest and a real community feel. Really worth a visit.

The famous three spires can be seen from some parts of the city centre. The walk through the town is delightful, especially as you walk by Beacon Park and the large pond. As you get closer to the cathedral the narrow streets and architecturally pleasing dwellings are worth a pause just to admire their beauty. The lovely grass frontage to the cathedral complements the three sided rows of houses. All smart and easy on the eye.
The cathedral isn't the largest one I've seen especially if you compare it to Liverpool. The interior decor is typical of a cathedral, however, the carved ornate stone is very intricate and impressive.
The cathedral warrants more than one visit and I will be happy to go again.

If you like architecture from the 16th century this is for you. Very ornate with Herkenrode stain glass windows plus treasures such as the Lichfield Angles.

We had three excellent visits to this Cathedral. Our first visit was our own tour around . We then learnt that evensong wad to be sung and we returned for that. We are so glad we did. We sat in the choir stalls and the harmony in the male voices was beautiful especially in this setting. We returned the next day for a superb guided tour given by a gentleman named Brian. This was just superb. We learnt so much. He imparted the knowledge with humour and anecdotes. Thank you so much to him! We do recommend taking a guided tour to make the most of a visit. This is a truly beautiful Cathedral.

Never been to Lichfield but wanted to see the town and the famous medieval cathedral - only 3 spire one in the country. Partner and I spent a good 1 and a half hours wandering around looking at the architecture and admiring the craftsmanship.

Chapter House had small selection of items from the incredible Staffordshire Hoard which added to the thrill - sadly we were not able to make the library tour which is only on certain days. Next time! Knowledgeable and friendly volunteers gave us lots of information.

A beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. Free entrance, guided tours are possible, the booklet given on entry gives indepth details about the history of the place. Great little gift shop opposite too and also the Chapter House tearooms which serves tasty well-priced snack and meals.

We enjoyed a fascinating time walking round this lovely ancient building. Highlights were the 19th century flemish windows in the Lady Chapel, bought to replace those damaged in the civil war. We also had the opportunity to attend Choral Evensong.

Worth a visit whether you are religious or not. Listened to a school choir practice and was brilliantly captivating.

Picked this place as a stop off on the way home from a short break on a Friday. Had never been here before. Had just three hours to spare and enjoyed every minute. What a lovely, interesting place. Cathedral is early English with three whopping great spires, so easy to see and guide your way into the centre of this charming old town. Nice big car park between cathedral and market place. Free entry to the cathedral but make a donation to support this lovely building and buy the £5 guide book - well worth it. Uncluttered inside due to Victorian restoration, it enables you to appreciate the fine architecture and stained glass. The main front is a glorious mass of statues of saints and monarchs. Spent two happy hours there and afterwards enjoyed lunch of savoury Staffordshire oatcakes (very nice) in the Georgian cathedral tearooms nearby. A quick browse around the antique shops in the streets linking cathedral and market place and a look at the stsues of Dr Johnson and Boswell on the market place and we had to leave. We shall certainly come back for more.

I have visited Lichfield and the Cathedral there many times over the years. The inside of the Cathedral is beautiful and is well worth a stroll around.

Walking round the two nearby pools - Minster and Stowe - give stunning views of the three spires.

Lovely place for contemplation.
