Beautiful, historical building. Good information leaflet. Toilets and refreshments a short walk away, something to bear in mind if taking someone who is elderly or disabled. No shop. No charge for entry but donations welcome and guide available for £2.

It has a very impressive front. It was built in 1242 on the remains of the 8th century church of St Chad. Wonderful stone carvings throughout. Some medieval stained glass in two windows. We went in the Chapel of St Chads head, which had been a place of pilgrimage. The head is no longer there. There was Consistory Court in the cathedral, but not available to see. The chapter house held most of the treasures as well as the 8th century St Chads gospels. There was a green man carved to the wall and a cat and mouse carved in stone a little higher. We did this in a day trip from London on the train.

A lovely old church well worth a visit if I'm Lichfield. Car park across the road from it limited spaces but not expensive.

I'm not religious but do love a good church or cathedral with all the history. Lichfield is a lovely cathedral and well worth a visit. It's free to go in but a donation is appreciated. Lichfield itself is a nice town too.

My friend and I are avid visitors to the cathedrals of our country. We marvel at the workmanship our ancestors applied to these buildings within our communities.
I would recommend to the reader the book: 'Englands Cathedrals' by Simon Jenkins. He describes this cathedral with intimate knowledge. It was severely damage during the English Civil war of the mid 17th century. However over the centuries since it has risen and offers the visitor a worthwhile experience.
The location and environs are a pleasure to wander. Enjoy!

Lichfield Cathedral is one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in the UK. It's a must-see for anyone interested in architecture or British history. The cathedral is full of interesting features, from the stunning stained glass windows to the ancient crypt. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and there's plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

If you like wandering around English cathedrals, this one is pretty good. The interior is much as you'd expect. The welcome was friendly, and they didn't charge a fee, merely asked if we'd like to make a donation, which is fair.

The cathedral wasn’t technically open for visitors but we were invited by a staff member from Lichfield Cathedral School to sit in on the year 10 assembly! Very enjoyable in a beautiful building

Amazing building. Full of really nice artefacts. Extremely photogenic. Exterior is somewhat overwhelming. You must see the tomb of the sleeping sisters. It is just so emotive, yet a beautiful piece of sculpture.
