Went to the Garrick Theatre for the second year running to see Barry Steele doing a fantastic tribute act of Roy Orbison. The Theatre got in touch with me at the last minute as I had left my name for a cancellation. The Theatre was packed and the performance was superb. I believe a tribute act needs to be extra special to avoid criticism, but Barry Steele lived up to every expectation and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Enjoyed a drink at the interval and the staff and service was excellent. I would recommend a visit to a superb Theatre.

From the time you enter the "Green Room" for pre theatre drinks until you leave the theatre, you will be feeling happy/sad/euphoric etc. depending on which of the wide variety of entertainment that is available, that you have seen.
There is something for everyone.... stage shows, old and new, amateur productions, various artists and many more.
Enjoy.

We went for the last day screening of The Hired Man, a Melvyn Bragg musical.

The cast were good, & projected their voices quite well without microphones.

Followed the jist of the whole story.

Not necessarily to my liking, with all the singing, but still good nonetheless.

The auditorium wasn’t full.

Staff friendly.

The main auditorium 2003.

My daughter & i went to see The Hired Man this evening ! What an unbelievable performance from EVERY single cast member ! It was so wonderful my daughter is actually going again tomorrow evening ! The singing voices from 'Emily ' & ' John ' are outstanding & we also attended the question & answer session after the show. Thank you all your help with seating arrangements & being accommodating with my daughter regarding the height of safety barriers too . All round a fabulous evening . Thank you to all. Tickets are easily booked by phone and ready for collection at the box office. The structure of the whole venue is interesting as each one of the four levels has its own facility, bar or dias. Amateur dramatists occupy several of these arenas to present ad lib performances before a show starts. Once inside, the theatre has retained a delightful circle, with six clear boxes and stalls below. Viewing from all is good and microphones are used discreetly. The performance was outstanding (The Hired Man) but the seats themselves are very cramped. I am short and found the seating restricting; how a much taller person would find them poses a big question. That said, a full range of refreshments are available before the performance and during the interval. Drinks could be taken into the auditorium. Very friendly and helpful staff, publications for future events all around although these could be more formally presented. Toilets were all clean and good. Access to all levels gained by lift and staircase. Seating for the disabled would be made available near the boxes. Car parking is free after 6pm in Lichfield and poses no problem at that time.

Standards and customer service are still slipping.
What training do the door stewards receive? Why do they not suggest that people with higher number seats, eg #23, #24, walk around the front of the auditorium to the far side rather than start at seat #1 and everyone has to get up to let them through? It isn't rocket science but as the stewards do not even look at tickets now ....

We have visited the Garrick Theatre a great number of times over the years, seeing a variety of productions. Each time we have been, we have never been disappointed. The theatre staff are very helpful, polite and friendly. The production of their Christmas pantomimes are always top class, and we will keep taking our grandchildren to see them for as long as possible.

Great theatre with a variety of different types of shows, been a few times now and always had brilliant time. Every seat has a good view, been near the front and also sat on the very back row and I can't complain about the view or the acoustics.
There is also good parking right next door on the multi storey car park.
Check out the website and if you book online you can even see the view of the stage from your choice of seat before you confirm your booking.
Good bars with quick service too and you can order your drink for the interval.
All in all a great little theatre in a great little city.

We went to see the tribute band ELO Again! A good night was had by all, great show, great seats and a great price. One tip is I wouldn't buy on line and arrange for collection on arrival. The system failed and there were no tickets waiting for us, I really thought we were going to miss out. However they sorted it out in the end and printed off some new tickets - all's well that ends well!

Spent the last few days in Lichfield area and went to see 2 shows over the weekend. Theatre is very easy to find, right near the bus station, train station, town centre etc.

I saw Talon both evenings, a tribute band of The Eagles, which I follow up & down the country. Shows really good as always, good acoustics in the theatre, not like some places where it echoes abit.
Have a nice bar area for pre show drinks.

All in all, a great theatre which I would return to in the future.

Went to see the Mousetrap on Saturday night 9 April. Very impressed with the Garrick, will definitely go again. Staff (a lady) on the Theatre door was very helpful and friendly. Had great seats (row C in the stalls) but in hindsight would book say row I as its on a slope and you have both the close view but also the full stage view. We were planning on eating pre show in the Green Room, but their menu was very limited and expensive for what the food on offer was but it would be ideal for a light meal. Loved the theatre layout, information available all around.
