Beautiful place. Car park was very busy but once inside and within the 150 acre site it was peaceful and quiet. Wonderfully o served memorials to many, many regiments, groups, and services.

Lovely place to visit, very emotional if you understand what it's for, staff are lovely, would of been a 5 star except it states it's dog friendly, it's not really dog friendly you can take your dog but can't go on the grass or memorials with the dog so if you are going to take your furry companion expect to miss out on most of the lovely memorials but a lovely day non the less

I booked a tour at The Arboretum for my husband and father - we had a buggy and a wonderful guide - Paul. It made such a difference to our day, and meant that we could see more and enjoy it without the worry of walking round a small portion of the rather large site!!
We were so well looked after, from coffee when we arrived with the discussion of what we wanted to see, lunch and of course the tour of the memorial sites, all so well done, and so interesting.
The Arboretum is very well kept, the memorials are well planned, and staff so friendly - even though we were there from 10 am to 5 pm (1.5 hour for lunch), we still had to rush the last bits.
Hopefully we will be back.

Visited the arboretum at the end of May with my 2 Greyhounds and had an amazing day, so tranquil, and inspiring. Returned today and another fabulous experience, saw and learned so much more. The NMA is the perfect balm in these strange times, space to reflect, feel and be.

We had not known what to expect, but were moved by the peaceful surroundings and wide variety of memorials. Everything was well maintained, and on a busy sunny Sunday what looked like a crowd at the entrance soon spread through the grounds.

A moving testament to the service & civilian personnel who have contributed to conflicts around the globe unfortunately marred by the overzealous car park attendant.
On arrival I was asked for booking reference which I had not pre booked after checking the website earlier that morning & deciding to turn up on spec.
I was advised I should check the website & if I had arrived today 28/07/21 as opposed to yesterday would not have been admitted which is not the case although part of the site was unavailable to the general public.
In hindsight I would recommend pre booking to avoid any confrontation.

Having waited so very long to visit, personally and as a family we were not disappointed. A very thought provoking, reflective and moving experience. There are no words to describe the beauty of this place. Every memorial is just beauty, the Far East is unreal, ‘Shot at Dawn’ is particularly moving, to be honest it made me feel unwell but it brings hone such a message. The facilities are fantastic snd the staff engaging, respectful snd just lovely people. This place should be on the national curriculum and all school children should visit please g do I gone you will not be disappointed. Thank you

I had heard lots of great reviews on the National Memorial Arboretum and the visit didn’t disappoint. I went with my 3 children, sister, nieces and mum. The kids loved the stickman trail, although it could have been marked out a little better. We also did the memorial trail and again the kids loved locating the memorials and adding their stickers to the worksheet. Plenty of space for picnics and we had an ice cream from the cafe. It was a lovely few hours walk and we all enjoyed it.

However, this wouldn’t be a review if I wasn’t honest! On approaching one of the memorials my kids and nieces ran up a small grass verge and a member of staff proceeded to shout at them and us to get off (it was allowed to go on the grass) I apologised and explained that they were just children playing. The gentlemen then proceeded to tell 3 different groups of people that he was watching our unruly kids. It really spoiled what was a great day and I thought that he was incredibly rude, if he continued to have an issue, he should have spoken to me or my sister. This gentlemen really spoiled a great day and I would be disappointed to have him in my employment!!

Have wanted to visit the Arboretum for some time. What a stunningly peaceful place for reflection and quiet contemplation. The memorials and tributes to some many lost souls is heart breaking and uplifting all at the same time.
The walls of so many names really brings it home how many have made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.
Everyone should visit this stunning place at least once.
Lest we forget.

150 acres of grounds with memorials to military civilian and voluntary organisations and individuals

Many interesting walks and for less able chauffeured buggies tour the site for a fee

Entrance is £4.00 per car and has to be pre booked

Excellent cafe and visitor centre

Even though quite a few people there, it was a lovely peaceful place and the different sections were really interesting

You can treat the National Arboretum either as a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the trees and gardens or as a place to reflect on the sacrifices others have made. If you go for one, you will also end up doing the other.

The arboretum is largely staffed by volunteers, and you should make use of them. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and can always tell you a story behind a particular memorial. Entrance is free (£4 to park), with all the profits from the sales in the cafés and shop going to support the arboretum, and for a small fee of £4 one of the volunteers will take you on a walking tour of the site - again the money goes to the arboretum.

You must go there if you get the chance.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We went for one specific memorial out of the 400+ there but ended admiring many, many others. Almost in tears at the powerful "Shot at Dawn" memorial and the huge central Armed Forces memorial reminded me of the ones near the Somme in France. The mix of military and newer civilian memorials was welcome and the individual trees dedicated to specific deaths, including children, were also moving.
Even the stroll along the River Tame - wished we'd seen the otters - added to the tranquility of the whole place. Do go!
