Beautiful place, brilliant staff, just great.
Such an emotional and educational day, took my 11 year old son and we both took lots away from the visit.
Parking was easy, cafe was clean, service was fab and food was delicious. Not overpriced either.
Couple of kids play areas dotted amongst the memorials.
Plenty of space for them to run about and not bother anyone too.
Definitely recommend everyone to visit and pay their respects.
Mind blowing ❤

One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been to. Went on a pilgrimage to find an old friend which I did. I thought of good memories and shed a few tears. I would highly recommend this wonderful place to everyone. Please everyone put in on your bucket list of must does. The people looking after this wonderful place are fabulous

It's been a little while since we last visited here but we have been several times.
The Arboretum is a haven of tranquility & a beautiful place to remember and reflect. Whether about lost souls in battle, those currently serving or loves ones generally. Especially in our world's strange times.
All the memorials are immaculately kept.
To find your way around the arboretum, though there are lots of waymarkers, I think it's essential to buy the guide book.
I also makes an excellent umbrella when it rains!!

With covid restrictions in place booking an arrival time and parking makes sense. So easy to book online and arrival, parking and access is so easy. Everything is in place to allow the visitor a normal and safe visit. The restaurant and the outside coffee shop are both open as is the shop. Tours by land train or electric cart are still available for tours. The staff and volunteers are as helpful as always. Such a wonderful place to spend a few hours amongst a beautiful memorial garden. Always look forward to returning to see what has been added. Well done the staff for the hard work keeping the Arboretum open.

Came here when in the area, on a very hot afternoon. We had pre - booked the car parking and it was all managed and very efficient, and no waiting around. We didn't have a map but decided to just walk and see as much as possible in a few hours, and it was soon obvious that it will take more visits to see the whole site.
There were no issues with overcrowding or noise and some of the memorials are very moving. The whole place was serene and there is plenty more for us to do and see on next visit. A very fitting memorial to those lost in the wars and a must visit.

A beautiful and inspiring collection of memorials and a site of remembrance.

The site is beautifully and thoughtfully landscaped with even the trees planted relating to the oak in ships. An accessible space and lots to think about in terms of the layers of symbolism and their relationship to the memorials

Staff are very welcoming and a great cafe!

What a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It was so thought provoking as we walked around the different memorials. Yes a lot of them commemorate the army, navy and airforce, but there are lots of other places to see and remember, still born babies, guides.

All of the staff were friendly and informative. There is a place where you can find out about how to track relatives service and military awards, which I will certainly follow up on

We did the train trip as the site is so big, it gave us a very good initial insight and some of the history of the pieces.

This review isn't for those who have any personal or family connection to a particular armed conflict, or to those who are simply interested in such conflicts, If that's you, you'll need no persuasion to visit. This review is for everyone else.

Seriously, why haven't you been yet? This Memorial Arboretum is absolutely faultless. It is vast (150 acres) but the clever design means that for the most part it feels quite intimate with lots of little groves, quiet paths and out-of-the way woodland. To cover it all at a leisurely pace, plus have a break for a spot of lunch, you'd need around 3-4 hours I think. Calmness, trees, tranquility, groves, hedges, trees, paths, greenery, peace, trees. You will love it just for being among it all.

The memorials. My word - there are hundreds of them, in broad, vague 'zones' (such as 'The Far East' or 'The Navy') dedicating and remembering just about every branch and unit of the armed forces you can think of, plus many that you have never considered. The memorials vary from simple rock plinths to huge inscribed walls, from grand statues of figures to smaller designs, from familiar insignia and motifs to abstract designs and sculptures. Also, there are countless small plaques with individuals' names on, dotted among the trees. Most of the memorials have background information on the unit, and a few have longer histories, too. Some memorials are very thought-provoking. One at least will probably make you feel like weeping.

But there is something extra-special about the site, I think, and something that people may not realise. This isn't just a memorial to 'soldiers' - it's our (National) memorial site for many other groups of people who have died - for example, those in the emergency services, victims of terrorism abroad, victims of car crashes, and children who have died too young in hospital. I think this is the most special thing about the Arboretum - it serves as a focal point for people grieving for so many reasons. It must, surely, help just a little? And I imagine the list of memorials for different groups will increase as time goes on.

What a fortunate nation we are to have such a place, how lucky we are to have the creative minds behind it! I can't imagine that any other country has done it as well as we have (if at all). If you were serving in the armed forces (in particular) I hope you would never feel that you would be forgotten if you lost you life for your country. Nobody should ever suspect that 'people didn't care'. This Arboretum is evidence that we DO care and we WON'T forget.

My wife and I attended the D-Day 77 Memorial at the NMA, and it was my first visit. The staff and the assistance they gave from entering to exit was second to none. The grounds and memorials are amazing and when I needed to find one specific the guides helped me find it. You need a good three hours plus here as there is so much to see. Truly special. I will return.
