Great day out for all the family, so much to see! My partner and I have been a few times now with our cameras and a picnic as the restaurant gets quite busy!
Beautiful place and highly recommended

It's been a long time since we last came here. The reception area has been transformed and is fresh and welcoming. As we had arrived a bit late as anticipated at around lunch time, we decided to get a bite to eat. We both decided on a sandwich and cup of tea. The seating area in the cafe was bright and comfortable and suited our needs. The sandwiches were delicious and value for money. The actual Arboretum is a special place to visit for myself, even in february the gardens and outside spaces are beautiful places to lose yourself in. This appeals to all age groups, there is a play area for young people, there is a land train, a buggy and mobility scooters for people with mobility issues. You can spend hours here at your own leisure and return home feeling relaxed and refreshed.

It has been on my bucket list for a while, finally visited yesterday (Sunday). On arrival was very impressed with the car park and main reception. Very impressive building and the welcoming volunteers/staff were very helpful. Book the buggy tour for £6.00. Went for a coffee before the tour, lovely restaurant, very clean with a good selection of cakes. Got talking to another volunteer who was very interesting and informative. The buggy tour was a great introduction to the site and you can then decide where you want to visit on foot later. Our guide was brilliant. Blankets were supplied if you feel a little chilly. Tour over we went for Sunday Lunch in the restaurant. Excellent food in a lovely clean environment. Staff very friendly. We then walked to the East side to see 'Shot at Dawn'. Attended the 1.30 pm talk, very poignant!
What struck me was how symbolic each monument is. Without the guided tour you would never appreciate how much thought and care has gone into each memorial.
Would 100% recommend going there. Need to return as it is almost impossible to see everything in one day.

Me and Becky took our friend here today and it was simply divine.

Walking around seeing the respect that is shown for people (and animals) that have taken the ultimate sacrifices. This place really made me feel proud of the people (and animals) that look after us.

A must go and don’t forget to donate

Visited today to look at the Greek Grove which is a memorial to the British, Greek and Commonwealth personnel who took part in the 1941 Campaign. The memorial has been refurbished to a very high standard which was very pleasing. I was also looking for the Royal Signals Memorial but got confused and rather tired. At this point I met a guide, Paul, who said he could show me the way if I felt up to it. I did and was taken to where the memorial is and back to the main building. During the walk Paul pointed out the various memorials we passed and had anecdotes to tell about a number of them. very informative indeed.
I them has a cup of coffee in the Cafe where I was helped by a menber of staff who noted my mobility problems and imediatly came to offer help. Good coffe and cake too.

First and foremost 100% you MUST visit this poignant place at least once in your life, let the significance of it seep in and reflect.

I arrived first thing in the morning and to state the boring it really seems bizarre you have to pay for parking, The car park as far as I remember is only for the NMA and you have to pay entry so here in particular is just seems inappropriate. Anywho onwards upwards. I was met by a gaggle of great staff keen to help. I opted for the ground train option to get a good overview which I thought was very good and informative. Don’t underestimate the size of the property, it’s huge.

Before heading out I took a moment to reflect in the chapel and really rather liked the prayer on the outside. The ground train was a good experience however given I was literally the only person on it I felt the driver could have been a tad more accommodating and helpful, he repeatedly pointed out how if I got off he could not wait which I thought was a tad OTT given how quiet it was and I was the only passenger.

Folks forgive me if this is stating the obvious but this a memorial arboretum, I originally thought it was akin to war cemeteries but that is not the concept here and as far as I know, no one is actually buried here. Having said that the memorials really are quite spectacular and cover every topic, giving much food for thought. Particular memorable ones are the Poppy memorial, the Camp Bastion Memorial erected here again by the soldiers themselves is very poignant with its simple cross and the Christmas Truce Memorial is rather nice and I thought well worth the hike. The Armed Forces Memorial is seminal and being able to see all the names there up to the very latest is extremely powerful.

I thought the shop was good but unclear which items are pure commercial and which provided funds which go to the NMA or British legion.

Please make your respects to the past and our heritage.

This memorial to those who have fallen in war. There are so many tributes and we were glad to go on a buggy tour with a most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable guide, who explained the different tributes. It is very modern and quite stark. The large restaurant was welcome on a very cold day!

Been here several times and each time is moving and thought provoking. Today’s visit was with a large social group as a simple meet. The weather was cold and windy but the Sunday lunch provided the ideal solution.

Lovely meal, friendly staff, very reasonably priced. As part of a day’s visit, highly recommended

I don't have the words to describe, or at least not to do it justice. So peaceful, such a special place. The entrance is spacious and airy, with plenty of volunteers on hand to help and advise. We'd picked a quiet day a Thursday in January, and with the "train" out of service and a limited amount of time we elected to have a buggy tour. Our guide was brilliant, great knowledge and humorous, and certainly whetted our appetite for another more extensive visit. I can only imagine how glorious it must be in spring or autumn colours. Only one really little moan, the hot chocolate in the café needed to be hotter!! Next time we'll take a picnic when the weathers warmer too.

I intended spending two hours at the NMA, I arrived at 9am and left at 3pm and even then I dragged myself away and will be returning with friends!
The volunteers are brilliant and in particular David who displays a passion and thorough knowledge of this beautiful memorial area. After a service in the chapel I was shown round on a buggy, treated to a lecture on the 'shot at dawn' memorial and then quietly took in some 300 plus monuments dedicated, not only to the military but to peace and remembrance of all those that served our country. Highly recommended!

The National Memorial Arboretum is a great idea and its lovely expansive landscape, buildings, diverse memorials and settings are so fitting for somewhere to remember.

We have visited here several times as we have a remembrance tile for my Father-in-Law at the Halton Grove RAF Garden. It is lovely to walk around the acres of grounds along the river bank and up to the top of the Armed Forces Memorial, a very impressive monument. Its also worth having a bite to eat or a coffee in the spotless restaurant.

The volunteer staff are very attentive and helpful. We intend to take the Mother-in-Law in the near future and the various on site transport facilities including land train will be very useful to get around the site.

Well done to all. Thank you.

12 months to the day, I made a return visit - again on public transport but this time got it totally right. The weather was very cold and freezing rain forecast but my spirits were not to be dampened. I was there soon after 10am and had a good look around at the newer memorials which in a year are plentiful. A good set of photos were taken and a good walk around to places I didn't visit last time. In the end, the weather beat me and felt it pointless getting soaked however it just gives the impetus to want to return time and again.
This is the most humbling place I have ever been to and will return again and again. I will get there in the summer however was so very impressed with the amount of assistance from the dedicated bunch of volunteers who offer their knowledge free and always with a smile.
Had a warming drink and quick bite to eat and headed off home knowing that I will be back there again.

A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who take so much pride in what they do and how they assist the public...see you next time.

We visited on New Years Day. I wasn't prepared for the emotion I felt when we entered the site. The Armed Forces Memorial made me cry and I am not ashamed to admit it. The bronze figures are so life like. The volunteer on site explained the significance of the figures. All I could do was nod. We wandered round the various memorials but couldn't take them all in. This is a site that has so much love in it. It is tribute not only to the people remembered there but to the artists and everyone who have had a hand in the creation of the memorials. We will be back again and again. Everyone should visit it if only once.

Its a while since we last came, and this time its winter and it is just as moving. The armed forces memorial is now finished and is so impressive as is the visitor centre. It is free to enter and whatever else you pay for is cheap at the price as all profits go towards upkeep and additions.
