Talent Match is a Big Lottery funded charity set up to tackle unemployment among people aged 18-24 who have been out of work or education for at least 12 months.
Talent Match has made a cracking start to February with seven people supported into employment in the first week alone. This has been possible due to the great links made with local businesses willing to work with charities to help the community whilst meeting their own recruitment needs.
The manager of B&M in Lichfield, Martin Chadbourne, has been a particularly well engaged employer taking on the lion’s share of our beneficiaries, as well as supporting Talent Match by attending meetings and giving an employer’s perspective on linking businesses and charities, so they can work together and drive down youth unemployment in the region.
Work experience has been recognised as a crucial ingredient for gaining the skills employers want and the businesses who have been working with Talent Match have played an important part in getting our beneficiaries ready for their interviews. If more businesses could offer this kind of support and discover the many benefits of work experience it would be a major step in the fight to drive down unemployment.
"Through Talent Match we have linked up with beneficiaries who have quickly made themselves indispensable team members. They bring unique personalities and a keen willingness to work and learn. It has been a pleasure to see them enjoying their work with our organisation. It is true that the more you give the more you get back, both for them and us". Chris, Manager Oxfam bookshop
“Talent Match has made me feel so welcome and valued. The team is really friendly and different to other organisations that I have been to” – Dan, newly employed.
