Burntwood Residents have your say!

A life-sized bronze sculpture of a pit pony and miner is being created thanks to public donations and £10,000 section 106 funding - awarded by Lichfield District Council in 2010.

The sculpture, designed by national sculptor, Peter Walker, who was born in Burntwood, is set to be started in the summer.

Burntwood Chase Heritage Group, which is coordinating the Sankey’s Corner Arts Miner Project with Peter Walker, is holding a public consultation to find out local people’s views about where the sculpture could be placed in the town (subject to planning permission).

Everyone is welcome to stop by and give their views at the consultation at Burntwood Library on Tuesday 17 January, between 11am and 7pm.

Members of the Burntwood Chase Heritage Group will be on hand, along with artist Peter Walker and Burntwood Town Councillor, Ron Bradbury, to talk through possible locations for the sculpture.

If you cannot make it to Burntwood Library on 17 January, you can also give your views online at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/voiceit and clicking on the Sankey’s Corner Arts Miner Project Consultation.

Where would you like to see this beautiful sculpture?
