The trio, who go by the team name of Rough Justice, have raised more than £800 in sponsorship for the cancer charity so far, with the amount still rising.

Shaun said: “Cancer has been in my family for many years. Both my mother and father have passed away - my mother was just 47 - and very recently my sister also passed away. It's a cruel disease so we need to raise as much money as we can to help support people living with cancer.  I know that both Jonathan and Andy have also lost relatives to cancer so we all felt this was a great way to raise some money and help people with this disease.”

A spokesperson from Macmillan said: “With 72 holes to play and over 20 miles of walking, The Longest Day Golf Challenge is the biggest game of your life.

“We need heroes to fundraise for Macmillan, so we can help people live life with cancer. We do this by providing vital physical, financial and emotional support, face to face, through our support line and online, too. Since 2002, golfers have raised over £10 million. That's why, to us, everyone who plays is a real super golfer.”
