This year, on Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th & Bank Holiday Monday 28th August, Great British Bake Off stars, Val Stones, Frances Quinn and Christine Wallace will be showcasing their baking expertise, along with a line-up of local award winning chefs presenting free cookery demonstrations at Central England Co-operative's Cookery Theatre, on the lawns of the stunning Lichfield Cathedral,
Complementing the cookery theatre will be a FREE Cookery School. It will be announced on Lichfield Food Festival Facebook page what masterclasses are available so that people can reserve a space. You can expect pasta making and Indian treat making amongst other things. Hindley's Bakery in Tamworth Street will be running FREE dough shaping courses. Visitors are encouraged to pre-book to get a spot. You'll be able to take home the loaf you've shaped after it has been baked.
This year is set to be the biggest yet with over 250 high end food & drink traders across the city centre, in Three Spires shopping centre and around beautiful Lichfield Cathedral. Hot and cold food from all round the world and some have gluten free & vegan friendly options too. Choose from lots of deliciously refreshing Gins or tasty locally produced fruit wine. There is something for everyone.
Local food and beverage businesses in Lichfield are getting involved by serving outside their premises where they can. Have a walk down Bird Street where you'll find The George Hotel will be running FREE Gin master classes & tasters along with Pom's Kitchen offering festival specials & tasters to tickle the taste buds!
Feeling competitive this year? There's going to be a few competitions for the visitors to get involved in at the Co-Op Cookery Theatre. The very first one will be a Chilli Challenge, then the ‘Man vs Food’ challenge (anyone can enter!) & finally "The Crepe Escape". Visitors will be asked to eat 10 crepes with our choosing of fillings, to win a prize. Also daily we will have ‘Lichfield Ready Steady Cook’ where you will watch two local restaurants and their head chefs battle it out!

From seeing top TV bakers to sharing tips and recipes, watching the pick of the crop of local amazing award winning chefs, competitions for all to enjoy. All for free in this stunning historic setting. We just feel this year promises to be the best ever and with being mentioned in The Sun Newspaper as one of the top ten events to go to this Summer, what's not to like!"
There will be a "Family Zone" within Three Spires Shopping Centre, where there will be regular children's activities throughout the festival weekend. Dudley Zoo will be making an appearance with all manner of creepy crawlies for Children to hold. There will be lots of live music & entertainment in all areas of the city centre and back by popular demand are 'The Jazz Ramblers' who'll be roaming around filling the air with upbeat traditional Jazz.
Lichfield’s award winning cookshop, The Kitchen Shop , will be emptying their window to wow festival goers with FREE KitchenAid equipment demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday they will be running ice cream and small electrical gadget demos featuring the brand new SAGE Smoking Gun! Not to be missed!
We know that the 2017 Lichfield Food Festival is going to be amazing and the best thing about it is not just the fantastic traders, beautiful backdrops, celebrity demonstrations or all of the activities we put on for our visitors but the fact that the whole of the Festival is free for visitors!
