The Lichfield Garrick will showcase the very best of the big screen movies with its new monthly film night, giving the opportunity for Lichfield audiences to enjoy the latest blockbusters in its main auditorium without travelling out of the city.
On Saturday 30 June, the Oscar winning and critically acclaimed Darkest Hour will be gracing the theatre’s silver screen. Winston Churchill is portrayed by the brilliant Gary Oldman in this exciting account of Churchill’s darkest hour in 1940; with German forces poised to invade, a reluctant US yet to come to the country’s aid and a cabinet contingent, led by Foreign Secretary Lord Halifax, demanding peace talks with Hitler. Gary Oldman captures the stoicism and jowls of the Prime Minister alongside Kristin Scott Thomas as his faithful wife Clementine, ably supported by Lily James, Samuel West and Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI.
Karen Foster, the Lichfield Garrick’s Executive Director on the new film nights said: “I am very aware that there was huge public disappointment that the cinema planned as part of Friarsgate will no longer go ahead. As a consequence, the Lichfield Garrick has chosen to show modern blockbusters in the theatre on our normally quiet nights. We would love to hear from film fans who would come to the theatre as this will help us to choose the right films.”
If patrons would like to give their feedback on the Lichfield Garrick’s new film nights, the theatre has set up a quick online survey which can be found here: bit.ly/garrickfilms
By entering in the survey, you can also be in with a chance to win a pair of tickets to its next film night on Saturday 21 July.
As well as the big screen being a draw to audiences, the theatre will be offering popcorn, hot dogs, nachos and sodas in it’s Green Room Bar and Café, making sure that patrons don’t miss out on the full cinema experience.
Darkest Hour, rated PG, will be shown at the Lichfield Garrick on Saturday 30 June at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from the theatre’s box office on 01543 412121 or online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com
