BMW backs Festival for record 9th year.
For 2012 the focus is on involving the plant's workforce and the surrounding community in the Coleshill area in a variety of festival activities.
Employees and their families from BMW Plant Hams Hall will be taking part in The Big Read, which the Festival hosts each year. Some 200 copies of a chosen book are distributed across Lichfield and surrounding areas free for the public to pick up, read and pass on to friends.
BMW will also become a venue for Festival events for the first time as they host three Get Creative workshops. Participants at these workshops will use recyclable materials to create working musical instruments, which the participants will then use for a performance.
"Around the world, BMW Group supports a variety of cultural and artistic projects and activities, said Nick Spencer, plant director at BMW's engine manufacturing plant at Hams Hall. We are proud to continue our support of such a vibrant community event that brings a multitude of diverse performances and exciting opportunities to people within our region."
Fiona Stuart, Festival Director, said; "We are delighted that BMW Plant Hams Hall will be supporting the Lichfield Festival for a record ninth year. We are looking forward to developing a really exciting festival with the plant workforce thoroughly involved."
The Lichfield Festival (4-14 July) will comprise over 70 music, literary, film, theatre and associated art events at a variety of venues, as well as a programme of education activities for school groups and individuals. Look out for BMW's Get Creative events in the Festival Guide, available from mid April.
