BRINGING FABRIC TO LIFE

WOW so this week we are feeling very lucky, following on from meeting Amy & John, All The Little Things -http://www.allthelittlethings.co.uk/ -  last week, at The Dog and Doublet, Sandon -  http://www.doganddoubletsandon.co.uk/ -  French Connection Photography,www.fcphotography.co.uk, popped along to the good old Dog & Doublet for us and took a few snazzy pictures for our portfolio, which we hope to be publishing very soon on our website, facebook page etc. so thank you Ian it's all very exciting ;-)) and on the 28th we will be visiting the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour - http://www.dcch.co.uk/ - to attend their lectures and view the new collections on display throughout the 90 show rooms, very excited.....

Then this morning we toddled off to Uttoxeter - a place I am not overly familiar with, but beautiful in the glorious sunlight especially driving across Blithfield Lake - and met with Alison of Alison Yule Textiles http://alisonyuletextiles.co.uk/ - I was very interested to meet with Alison as she produces fabrics using various weaving techniques that she has experimented with and mastered over her career and tries to maintain a stance on sustainability within all her work, the techniques and materials that she utilises.
Well I was just delighted to say the the least, not only is Alison very passionate, caring and meticulous about her work but also very inspiring. Talking to a like minded designer clarified a lot of for me here at Love Me Interiors and discovering the journey that Alison has been through to get where she is now both personally and professionally was fantastic.

As a mentor to students, a writer, a teacher and practitioner in her profession it is easy to see why she can maintain such a forward looking approach to her bespoke handmade designs. With every piece being designed by commission or tailored to specific requirements there aren't two the same literally.
From all of the works Alison was able to show us in her portfolio our favourite were the wall panels! Akin to artwork, they stand alone from a painting or a canvas and could really give a new dimension to a space and of course with each one bespoke you could commission a single panel or a group and have them handmade from scratch to suit your individual design or brand.
The best bit when our chat was over we walked back to our cars together and there in the passenger seat was Alison's spinning wheel a real awakening as to the care, attention and detail it takes to produce each piece and also in such an authentic and pure way, because as well as weaving each piece of fabric she dies the threads as well a beautiful craft translated in such a contemporary and on trend way ;-))
