The 1975 Triumph Stag V8 Automatic is Lot 1001 in Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ Antiques & Home Sale on Monday, February 22.
Due to Covid-19 safeguarding, the auction is online-only live from The Lichfield Auction Centre, Fradley Park. Partially restored in British Racing Green, the Stag has clocked up 85,000 miles since it was first registered 46 years ago on February 7 1975.
Estimated to fetch around £2,000 at auction, the car has suspension steering trim, a soft-top frame and comes with log book and extensive service and parts receipts.
The bodywork is rust-free with no major scratches or dents.
Auctioneer Richard Winterton said: “What a find! I visited the property in the middle of last month for an initial inspection for a potential house clearance.
“Inside a barn covered in a tarpaulin was this 1975 Triumph Stag – an iconic grand tourer in the pantheon of British sports motors.
“Already partially restored, it’s the perfect project car and will ignite interest amongst motoring enthusiasts.”
Mr Winterton added: “Sheds, garages and gardens are teeming with interesting finds from vintage tools to automobilia.
“We don’t cherry-pick, we carefully sift through everything everywhere to identify potential lots for sale at auction.”
Last summer, a 1973 Triumph Stag 3.0 litre V8 automatic convertible in white with 93,636 miles on the clock sold online with Richard Winterton Auctioneers for £5,600.
The February 22 auction also includes, as Lot 1002, a 2011 Vauxhall Vivaro 2700 CDTi 89 SWB panel van.
With six-speed manual gearbox and MOT valid until August 17 2021, the van is estimated at £1,200-£1,500.
The online-only sale starts at 9.30am.
