Fun stuff for the kids this Easter in Lichfield

From holiday clubs and special offers on swimming and football, to arts and crafts sessions and a sports camp, Lichfield District Council is making sure children have an egg-citing Easter break.

Burntwood Leisure Centre is running its holiday Playscheme, which is set to keep children aged from 5 to 11 busy with arts and crafts, games, swimming and much more.  Taking place from 2 to 5 April and from 10 to 13 April, the holiday club is a fantastic way for children to have fun, under the watchful eyes of qualified play leaders. The Playscheme costs £15 for the 9am to 4pm day. 

The leisure centre is also holding two swimming crash courses from 2 to 5 April. The sessions for 4 to 5 year-olds are running each day from 9am to 9.30am, and the sessions for 5 to 6 year-olds are running each day from 9.30am to 10am. The four-session week costs £20. 

A Rookie Lifeguard course is also running for 8 to 12 year olds. This four-day course is for anyone who wants to learn about what it takes to become a lifeguard. Taking place from 10 to 13 April from 9am to 11am, it costs £24 for the four days.

Friary Grange Leisure Centre also has plenty on offer this Easter with activities, including a badminton course, a sports camp, intensive personal training sessions, swimming lessons and more. 

The Badminton course, aimed at 8 to 16 year olds, is running from 3 April to 5 April, from 2pm to 4pm. It will cover serves, drop shots and game play with the coach, John Bagshaw. It costs £27.50 for the three sessions. 

The leisure centre is also holding a Rookie Lifeguard course. Taking place from 2 to 3 April from 9am to 11am, the course is aimed at 8 to 16 year olds and costs £20. It includes rescues and life saving techniques.

There are also lots of activities taking place at King Edward VI Leisure Centre this Easter, such as an art and craft day, table tennis and gymnastics.

On top of the activities held at the council’s three leisure centres, there is plenty going on across the district. For just £1 families can follow Easter trails at Chasewater Country Park and Beacon Park. 

Chasewater Country Park is also holding a free Community Cycle Ride. Just bring a bike and turn up at the Innovation Centre on Saturday 7 April at 2pm.

Beacon Park is running a special Morse Code Challenge on Saturday 14 April, between 11am and 3pm. It costs just £1 for a map and clues and is part of the Titanic 100 years on commemorations. 

The council’s Mobile Leisure team will also be entertaining children and young people this Easter with a programme of activities across the district.

There is Mini Mambo fun for the under 5s at Mile Oak Community Centre as well as Armitage and Handsacre Village Hall, cooking for the over 8s at Curborough Community Centre as well as Fazeley Town Hall, and fun sessions with inflatables and games for toddlers and children up to 11 years of age at Whittington Village Hall.  For more information about the Easter holiday programme of fun, visit www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/holidayactivities
