Private firework and bonfire parties are the cause of many injuries on bonfire night as fires easily get out of hand and fireworks are set off without following the correct safety procedures.
The latest Fire Brigades Union strike began at 6pm on 31st October and will end at 6pm on November 4th and police are urging residents of Lichfield and Burntwood to attend organised events only and to take extra care.
Whilst the fire brigade will continue to provide an emergency response to all life-threatening situations and will also answer all 999 calls - it will not be "business as usual".
