This autumn, Lichfield District Council started the huge job of compiling a new electoral register that will be the basis for any elections held next year. This included sending 43,388 annual canvas forms to households across the district.
And, in an effort to make sure no one who is eligible to vote is missed off the electoral register, the council has sent reminders out to households that have not yet registered. Canvassers will also be going door to door over the next few weeks to make sure everyone has filled in and returned their annual canvass forms.
Nina Dawes, Lichfield District Electoral Registration Officer, said: “Remember, if you want to have your say at election time and help to choose the people that make decisions that affect your everyday life, you must be registered to vote. It is simple to register. All you need to do is fill in your annual canvass form and send it back to us.”
