Pool House Veterinary Rabbit Awareness Month
Rabbit awareness month
Pool House Veterinary Hospital are pleased to announce the return of their popular rabbit health and welfare initiative ‘Healthy Hoppers’. Rabbits are the third most popular pet in the UK however unfortunately often the most neglected, as the care they receive often falls short of what is required. The problem is little has been done to raise awareness of the needs of the rabbit.
Unlike dogs and cats they cannot tell us what they want and we are aiming to offer all the advice, education and support owners may require to understand and meet these needs. The most common problems we see in pet rabbits are avoidable and we aim to do all we can to educate owners on the action necessary to prevent disease. If we can improve the health and welfare of just one rabbit as a result of this initiative it is all worthwhile.
We are dedicating the month of May to rabbits; with a focus on nutrition, the prevention of myxomatosis and flystrike. We shall be providing free health checks, nail clipping, husbandry and nutritional advice with our friendly, knowledgeable veterinary nurses. We shall be offering a significant discount on all preventative healthcare products and services for rabbit owners and everyone who attends one of our ‘Healthy Hopper’ appointments will receive a rabbit gift bag packed full of goodies! This offer is available at all of our branches in Lichfield, Burntwood and Armitage.
As part of our initiative we shall be hosting a photograph competition. We are aiming to find the ‘Cutest Bunny’ in the county and ask rabbit owners to submit their photos either by post, email or by hand into one of the practices branches. The winner will be selected during June 2012 and the lucky rabbit will receive a hamper overflowing with treats, toys and other goodies.
