Headteacher Susan Hannam said: “I am so proud of this year group. They have shown great resilience and determination in the face of unprecedented challenges and I am thrilled that their efforts have been rewarded. Deputy Head Andrew Harrison added: “These excellent results are testimony to the dedication and positive approach of our students and the professionalism of our staff. As a non-selective school, we offer a bespoke curriculum designed to enable students to grow in confidence and maturity, whilst providing the knowledge and skills needed for their next challenge. Their hard work and the school’s commitment to continuing lessons as normal, albeit online, throughout lockdowns has produced results in line with pre-pandemic outcomes.”
84% of students achieved top grades (9-7, Distinction or Merit) and 91% of students gained at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4. Demonstrating the value of a broad curriculum, students gained grade 9 in Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Geography, History, Religious Education, Computer Science, Business Studies, Design & Technology, Art and Music.
Students of GCSE French achieved outstanding results with all being awarded 9-7 (A** to A) grades. The performance of BTEC Music Technology students was similarly brilliant, with 71% awarded a Distinction while the remaining students all achieved a Merit.
