Learn an Ancient Art
Lichfield District Council’s arboriculture team is inviting people with an interest in nature conservation to learn the ancient art of hedgelaying on a free course this March.
Taking place at Darnford Park, the course is taking place from 10am to 4pm on the weekend of Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 March.
Led by the Burton Conservation Volunteers, the courses will teach participants the traditional skill of hedgerow management.
The hedges layed over the weekend will help the council with its ongoing woodland improvements and restoration work at Darnford Park. This is because hedges are important for biodiversity, and it is hoped they will attract more insects and small mammals to the site. They are also excellent habitats for birds to nest in.
There is no need to book, just turn up at the Darnford Park car park, off Darnford Lane at 10am on Saturday 3 March
