On Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th March 2017, the Lichfield Garrick will welcome the award-winning production of Invincible by the Original Theatre Company.
From one of the most exciting playwrights to emerge since Alan Aykbourn, Torben Betts’ production has been hailed as ‘simply superb’ and one not to be missed.
One of the stars of Invincible is Walsall born actor Graeme Brookes, who plays Alan, the football mad, beer drinking postman with a big heart.
Born and bred in Walsall and having moved to Burntwood in 2007, Graeme spent many happy days in Lichfield, the surrounding towns and particularly at the Lichfield Garrick theatre.
“I saw several shows there, I also met Ricky Tomlinson which was cool as he is a real inspiration to me,” said Graeme.
As a jobbing actor Graeme did whatever he could to make ends meet and worked in Lichfield as a car park attendant at Tesco and a painter and decorator. He has since forged a successful acting career and is currently reprising his role of Alan in The Original Theatre Company’s UK Tour of Invincible – which is playing at the Lichfield Garrick in March 2017.
“It will be nice going to the Garrick in my own right and not covered in paint,” added Graeme.
Graeme will be returning to his home county to delight local audiences, including family and friends who have yet to see him perform professionally; including the lady who introduced him to theatre at 14 years old.
Following on from the national UK tour, it has recently been announced that Invincible will perform at the thirteenth annual Brits Off Broadway festival in New York on 1 and 2 June. Graeme will be reprising the role of Alan across the Atlantic.
Invincible plays at the Lichfield Garrick from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th March 2017. Tickets are from £22.50 and can be booked online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the Lichfield Garrick's Box Office on 01543 412121.
