Since our last blog fellow trekker Pam has done a skydive, jumping for George, her late husband, she’s a brave lady. It makes our fundraising look a little tame! We were up at 5.30am last Sunday to do a car boot sale at Curborough, well worth it though as we raised over £78. I (Debbie) held an Open Day at home this week and was supported by Louise of Silver Sentiments with her lovely jewellery. Arthur Price very kindly donated a voucher for a raffle prize, as did Cr8tive Hair & Beauty and Barbara of Holistic Fitness. The event was very well attended and we raised over £500 for St Giles – a big thank you to everybody who came, ate cake and donated!
We have spaces for 3 more adventurers so if you know anybody who is up for the challenge of trekking for 6 days in North Vietnam please contact Jenni Dawson at St Giles Hospice on 01543 434542.
I’ve walked to town and back twice today as my training, I think it’s time we had some hot weather so that we can practice walking in hot conditions!
I’m signing up for the Solstice Walk on June 22nd June as I thought a 9 mile walk could be part of my trek training – the fact that I’ll be dressed up as a fairy in walking boots is hopefully going to attract some more sponsorship for this very worthy cause. St Giles are attempting to break the world record for the largest gathering of fairies in one place, so come on ladies, please join us! The current world record is 786, we are hoping to smash this with 1,000 or more ladies looking fabulous in magical fancy dress. So grab your fairy wings and magic wand and come and join us for this unforgettable women-only fundraising event. Telephone 01543 432538 for details.
