Hundreds of people descended on a Staffordshire Garden Centre at the weekend to see some Meerkats! G-Scapes Plant Centre, based at Curborough Craft Centre had a visit from the Tropical Inc. Roadshow last Sunday, and amongst the weird and wonderful creatures on show - ranging from some snakes called Mary and Bob (!), through to a Skunk, a few Tarantulas and some parrots were some 8 week old baby Meerkats.
The crowds listened in as Steve Rowlands (from Tropical Inc.) told them some fascinating facts about all the animals on show - the audience were then allowed to cuddle the Meerkats, have Parrots on their shoulders, Spiders crawling on their hands and Snakes draped around their necks! Fun was had by all, as Byron Lewis (G-Scapes Centre Manager) explained : "We didn't really know what to expect when we planned the event - I don't like creepy crawlies that much either, but the Meerkats were beautiful and the kids loved getting the chance of being up close and personal with all the creatures on show. Because of the success of the event, we're aiming to have the Roadshow pay us another visit in the spring!
We've put some pictures from the day on our Website www.g-scapes.co.uk and also on our Facebook page, but we'd love to add any more that our visitors may have taken - e-mail them to byron@g-scapes.co.uk
