Burntwood Leisure Centre

Is planning a Playscheme week, for children aged between 5 and 11 and offers arts and crafts, games, swimming and much more.

Running all day, from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February 2011, Playschemes cost £15 a day or £60 for the week.

The centre is also offering yopung swimmers and lifesavers, the chance to perfect their skills at the Rookie and Lifeguard Course.

Running at Burntwood Leisure Centre from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February, from 9am to 11am, it costs £30 for the week.

Other outdoor activities are football on the synthetic pitch, tennis, squash and badminton court.

Friary Grange Leisure Centre

I focusing on fitness this half term with swimming and cycling activities.

The holiday special Splashtastic, allows children, under 16 years of age, to swim for just 50p, when accompanied by an adult. Young people, aged from 8 to 16, can swim unaccompanied for £1. To benefit from the offer, just say the magic word - ‘Splashtastic’ - when booking.

Wannabe lifeguards, aged 16 years or more, have the chance to take part in a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification Course, which is running at the centre from 21 to 26 February. The course costs £220, and includes an assessment on the Saturday.

Beginners lessons take place from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February, Beginners 1 is from 9am to 9.30am and Beginners 2 is from 9.30am 10am. A week of lessons cost £20.

British Cycling, supported by Sky, is hosting a holiday coaching course at Friary Grange Leisure Centre this half term. Cyclists can use their own bike and helmet, or borrow one. To book, please call Louise Day on 07524281265 or email louiseday@britishcycling.org.uk.

King Edward VI Leisure Centre

On Monday 21, Tuesday 22 and Friday 25 February, from 9am to 12.30pm, 6 to 14 year olds can play badminton, basketball, football, table tennis and much more and then in the afternoon art and craft sessions, from 1pm to 4.30pm. 

Individual sessions cost £8. The morning and afternoon sessions cost £15 when booked together.

Toddlers can play away at Tumble Teds, which is running on Thursday 24 February from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. The session includes a bouncy castle, soft play kit, climbing frames, bikes, trikes and a ball pool. It costs £3.30 a session and £2 for an extra child.

The ever popular ‘racket savers’ is back at all three leisure centres. Badminton, squash and table tennis courts can now be booked, from 9am to 5pm, for just £2.

This half term the district council’s Playrangers will be visiting parks and open spaces across the district, holding free informal play sessions.

Weather permitting, the team will also run skateboarding sessions at King Edward VI Leisure Centre on Wednesday 23 and Friday 25 February, from 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm.
