Did you know that Lichfield Cathedral is open every day, receiving 150,000 visitors annually, 50,000 worshippers and 10,000 school children attending active study days?
The seven immense Renaissance Herkenrode glass windows within the Cathedral have been a focal point of the spiritual and aesthetic life ever since they was rescued from the Herkenrode convent in Belgium and installed in the Lady Chapel of Lichfield Cathedral in 1803.
They now represent the greatest collection of unrestored 16th Century Flemish glass in the world.
A few years ago, the windows were looking very weathered and were taken down to be restored and renovated.
As a result, the East End of the Cathedral has been boarded up until they are ready to be re-installed.
The Campaign
The Lichfield Cathedral East End Appeal project is nearing its final phase, with just under £200,000 left to raise before they achieve their target to re-install the Herkenrode Glass in Spring 2015 following their clean and restoration.
In order to raise money, the fundraising team have introduced a "Give a Lasting Gift" campaign, a wonderful idea that not only helps raise the money needed for the installation but also allows individuals to purchase a lasting birthday or Christmas present for someone special.
