Lichfield Arts announces the main stage bands for the Fuse 2011 festival

Opening the festival up on the Friday 8th July will be Influx with their alternative Indie Rock. Next on are the guitar driven rock of Maximum 90 before popular local covers band Threes Company Band finish off the evening with songs from the Rolling Stones Thin Lizzy to the present day.

 

It all starts again on Saturday July 9th at noon with the groundbreaking sounds of ‘Café de Kashmir ‘ before Catapult hit the stage with their original indie rock. Music quietens down a little when captivating singer/songwriter Roz Bruce struts the stage with her fine voice and songs. Next band on are Whimwise who somehow combine Orchestral, space rock, celtic and electronics into music that defines classification. Frentic fiddles, searing vocals and a hard driving rhythm section in the shape of the Roving Crows follows before local favourites of yesterday Madhalibut reform to play this special gig with their fantastic mixture of Ska/Reggae. No time to relax before the Monster Ceilidh Band present acoustic elegance with full-blown electrofolk to stun your eyes. The music then switches to Rock and Roll classics before by local well-known local stars ‘Johnny and the Speedos. Frankfurt based ‘Bourbon Street Stompers ’then bring you the music of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and Duke Ellington before the Big Sound of Cuba ‘Tomezclao finish off this wondrous day of music with the earth shattering sounds of Cumbia, Salsa, Meriningue and funk. Sheer to have you dancing your socks off!!

 

Sunday July 10th will be slightly more relaxing with classical singer Michael Jones performing a selection of classic songs from the great American song book to the current day .The popular City of Lichfield Concert Band will then perform a programme taking in the fuse themes of Shake It –Swing It-Make It-Move It-.Local funky jazz outfit Chloe and the Tomcats who are rapidly making a big name on the local music scene follow before the nine piece ‘Global Reggae Band ‘mix their hybrid sound of roots , dance hall and R &B to finish off the festivals with a flourish.
