A RIVETING reveal which dials into what makes a watchmaker tick is coming under the hammer with Lichfield’s auctioneer on Monday.
Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ Antiques & Home Sale on April 26 includes 45 lots presenting a fascinating insight into the life of a horologist.
The absorbing array features tools for brands such as Rolex, Omega and Tissot and a huge selection of watch crystals, dials, movements and other components such as cogs, springs and crowns.
There are also pocket watches and wristwatches including a 1960s Rolex Precision and collectable Omegas such as a Constellation and a 9ct gold model, plus vintage cabinets, watch cleaning machines and official Rolex and Tudor spare parts catalogues.
The collection, accumulated by a late Midlands horologist, dates back more than half a century and is anticipated to realise £3,000.
It goes under the hammer online from The Lichfield Auction Centre on Monday, April 26, as Lots 143 to 189. The auction starts at 9.30am.
“As a watch enthusiast, I especially enjoyed the time taken to carefully sift through this captivating collection which turns the clock back on the art of watchmaking,” said specialist Ben Winterton.
“It is a fascinating insight into what makes a watchmaker tick.”
The wider sale includes more watches and pocket watches as well as jewellery, silver, pictures, ceramics and collectables.
