Lichfield District Council, in partnership with North Lichfield Initiative, Freedom Cycles and Staffordshire County Council, is inviting people of all ages to get on their bike and enjoy a free cycle ride to Chasewater and back on Sunday 7 August 2011.
The season of free monthly cycle rides, ‘Cycle Rides for All’, has already seen lots of people led across the district by trained cycle leaders. The last ride attracted 23 people who pedalled off to Whittington in July.
This August’s ride will be a longer 18 mile ride to Chasewater Country Park and back. There will be regular stops along the way, particularly at the top of any slopes.
Jerry Trill, Planning Officer at Lichfield District Council, said: “This will be a social cycle ride with plenty of time to enjoy the views. People of all ages and cycling abilities are welcome to take part, and this time we’ll be stopping at Chasewater Country Park for lunch, so remember to pack a picnic!”
The Cycle Rides for All take place on the first Sunday of every month until the final ride of the season on Sunday 2 October. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
“If you want to join us on the Chasewater ride, just bring your bicycle, safety helmet, a picnic and yourself to Freedom Cycles in Lichfield at 10am on Sunday 7 August. If you don’t have a bike, you can borrow one of four bikes that Staffordshire County Council has kindly loaned to us for the rides. Just call Just call Freedom Cycles on 01543 411633 to book a bike for free or if you have any questions about the ride,” added Jerry.
The free rides take place on the first Sunday of every month:
7 August to Chasewater Country Park (18 miles)
4 September to Barton Marina (20 miles)
2 October to Fradley Junction (10 miles)
