Lichfield Food Festival 2014 - a date for the Diary!

The annual Lichfield Food Festival is always a fabulous event and this year is going to be no different. 

Come along and see Local and regional chefs cooking up a storm and enjoy lots of demonstrations, stalls and activities.  

Over the two-day event many eateries across the city will also offer diners set menus for £10, and bars and pubs will offer a glass of wine or ale for £3, as destinations on the Wine & Ale and World Food trails. 

This year's programme includes: 

Saturday 30 August 2014 

Pop-up cookery demonstrations at Lichfield’s Market Square from  11am to 4.30pm by chefs from across the region. Displays will be presented on the hour from 11am to 4pm. 

The Kill it! Cook it! Eat it! TV chef, Rachel Green, is back by popular demand and will present two cookery demonstrations at Tippers. Seats will be allocated on a first come, first seated basis.  A selection of food producers’ stalls will also be available throughout the kitchen showroom on this day. 

Equipment & Cookery Demonstrations will be held at The Kitchen Shop & The George Hotel from 10am to 4pm.  There will be lots of festival deals and competitions to enter at both venues.   

Christine Wallace, finalist in series 4 of the Great British Bake Off in 2013, will be demonstrating baking at the Cakeydora Baking Academy. Money raised from the tickets will be split between Stephen Sutton's charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Breast Cancer Care. Tickets will be available soon. 

Organised by Lichfield City Council, Lichfield Food Festival Market is set to bring passionately produced food from across the region and a wide range of goods to Lichfield over the festival weekend.  Visit the Lichfield’s Market Square and Three Spires Shopping Centre, 9am to 3pm. 

Brought to you by Lichfield Arts, The Best of Local Brewers will feature a selection of Real Ales from local breweries plus craft lager and traditional ciders. You can also enjoy a glass of wine, soft drinks or a cup of tea with homemade cakes, with a choice of food including the ‘Famous Pork Pies'. A venue on the Ale & Wine Trail.  Venue: The Guildroom, Lichfield’s Guildhall - 12 noon to 6pm 

Starting at St Mary’s in the Market Square, the cupcake hunt takes takes place from 10:30am to 3:30pm.  Pick up your free Cupcake Hunt map from the tourist information desk and follow the clues to find eight cupcake pictures dotted across the city. Bring your completed sheet back to St Mary’s to claim your tasty treat. Sponsored by NFU Mutual, Burntwood branch.

Lichfield Festival Food Market is open 9am to 3pm at Lichfield Market Square and Three Spires Shopping Centre  and brings passionately produced food from across the region and a wide range of goods to Lichfield over the festival weekend. 

Continuing into Sunday, The Best of Local Brewers will feature a selection of Real Ales from local breweries plus craft lager and traditional ciders. You can also enjoy a glass of wine, soft drinks or a cup of tea with homemade cakes, with a choice of food including the ‘Famous Pork Pies'. A venue on the Ale & Wine Trail. 

Amateur bakers are invited to take part in the Baking Competition at Three Spires Shopping Centre.  Sign in from 12 noon to 1pm, winners announced at 4pm.  Enter a wedding cake top tier or six wedding cupcakes to be in with a chance to win vouchers to spend in The Kitchen Shop and at Cakeydora. The George Hotel is also offering the winner in the adult category dinner for two at the newly launched Darwin’s.  Younger bakers can enter four Cinderella themed cupcakes to be in with a chance to win a family ticket to see Cinderella at the Lichfield Garrick and vouchers for Cakeydora.   

The Baking Competition will be judged by Julie Crisp, owner of the Lichfield baking academy – Cakeydora.   


The Lichfield Food Festival 2014 offers FREE admission to all demonstration and activities and there is sure to be something to suit all tastes.
