The Lichfield-based arts charity is committed to putting members of the community at the heart of everything they do and are pleased to be opening their Green Room Café doors seven days a week, from 10 am-5 pm every day (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day excluded) from Monday 7th November until Friday 31st March 2023.*
The theatre will be providing a warm and friendly space for members of the community to spend their daytime without the expectation of spending any money. Tea and coffee will be provided free of charge, thanks to support from Richard Winterton Auctioneers. There will also be the option to purchase food from a discounted menu during the Warm Space opening hours.
The scheme is partly funded by Lichfield City Council, who have offered grants to local venues to provide safe and welcoming spaces for anyone to use, get warm, and enjoy some company.
Matt Clay, Interim Executive Manager says, “People from all backgrounds are concerned about the rising costs of food, fuel, and energy. Everyone is welcome to the warm space at the Garrick to spend some time with us and ease their worries a little, and we are very grateful to Lichfield City Council & Richard Winterton Auctioneers for helping make this happen.”
For the first time since before the Garrick’s COVID-19 closure, the Green Room will also be open as a café during the same hours for anyone not using the warm space.
*When the building is open during performances, we will not be able to offer warm space facilities such as free drinks and games. You are welcome to still use the space to sit but you may find it is very busy with audiences! The Christmas Pantomime will be particularly busy.
The Panto is running from 25th November - 8th January.
