With free admission to attractions and lots going on around the city, including tower tours at Lichfield Cathedral, guided walks around the city, and a Saturday packed with children’s activities and entertainment on the Market Square, there will be plenty on offer throughout this special weekend.

Erasmus Darwin House will celebrate Remarkable Women and Wade Street Church will commemorate the first woman to be ordained in a congregational church.

Youngsters can try their voice at the Mini Town Crier competition and follow a fun hopscotch trail around the city.

On Saturday there is plenty going on at Lichfield’s Market Square, with Dr Johnson’s 309th birthday celebrations, and step back in time to 1918 at the Birthplace Museum and enjoy free Dr Johnson birthday cake.

There will also be a children’s craft activity and free face painting, as well as a programme of entertainment, including music from Lichfield City Concert Band and Blast Off, and a performance by Fired Up Theatre.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Environment & Development Services, said: “Lichfield Heritage Weekend is a chance to visit local places of interest that may not always be open to the public and to enjoy special activities and events at city visitor attractions. There’s something for all ages, and many of the activities are free, so it’s a great opportunity to enjoy a day out in Lichfield.”
